Miles Macadam were appointed as the Surfacing Contractor to install Hardipave™ on a new build Certas fuel station at ABP Docks, Southampton.

We have completed numerous fuel stations for Certas throughout the UK. Hardipave™ was specified as a durable and fuel resistant Grouted Macadam surface course, designed with a strong resistance to deformation and abrasion from HGV traffic, making it an ideal material for fuelling areas.

A typical failing associated with conventional asphalt when used in fuel stations is caused by minor diesel or oil leaks. The spillages act as a solvent which breaks down the bituminous asphalt causing the material to fail.

The fuel station was completed in September 2020 for Certas Energy and measured 1,130m². The scheme was a new build and we were commissioned to install a 240mm overall construction as follows: 100mm AC32 HDM base course, 100mm AC20 HDM Binder Course and 40mm of 14mm Hardipave™ Grouted Macadam surface course. The works were completed over a 4 day period by Miles Macadam’s experienced team.
